Real Radio Annouce Sheftival Lineup

Today, Real Radio’s Dixie and Gail announced a star-studded pop line-up at Yorkshire’s largest Olympics festival ‘Sheftival’, adding yet even more diverse appeal to its current programme of music, sport and culture at Don Valley Bowl, Sheffield on 4th and 5th August.

Created by Sheftival’s event partners, Real Radio, the pop-line in the Tramlines Arena features a selection of UK chart-topping acts. Brighton based duo Rizzle Kicks will top the bill, performing their unique mixture of pop and hip-hop including their infectious hit singles Down With The Trumpets, When I Was A Youngster and Mama Do The Hump.

They will joined by girl group, Stooshe, who are currently riding high on the success of their second single Black Heart, which hit the UK charts at an impressive number 2. The feisty trio, who blend pop with Motown, will also perform their debut single Love Me at the festival which is Sheffield’s biggest outdoor pop concert this summer.

Multi-MOBO and Brit Award winner Lemar will also be at Sheftival. His career spans a decade during which he’s bagged seven Top 10 hits and has toured the world. Festival goers are guaranteed to get lost in his infamous silky smooth vocals and R&B grooves.

X-Factor runner-up and pin-up, Marcus Collins, is also confirmed. His set at Sheftival will comprise of the pop-fuelled tracks featured on his Top 10 self-titled album, and it’s likely his hit cover of the White Stripes Seven Nation Army will get an outing too.

Last but definitely not least, Don’t Upset The Rhythm stars The Noisettes complete the Real Radio pop bill. Their funky rock sets are charged with eye-popping energy and power, and at Sheftival it’ll be no different as they perform chart smashing hits such as Never Forget You.

The line-up also includes rising talent in the pop-o-sphere such as Scottish pop-rock artist Danny Sha, whose cleverly edited tongue-in-cheek video viral, We Are Connected, gained over 800,000 hits on YouTube thanks to its suggestion he has collaborated with the like of Rihanna and Snoop Dog. Acoustic singer / songwriter Ryan O’Shaughnessy will also appear at Sheftival. The Britain’s Got Talent finalist hit headlines earlier this after it was discovered he was also signed up to The Voice. His raw talent has since seen him sign a record deal with Sony Records.

Managing Director of Real Radio Yorkshire, Steve South said:

“This is a brilliant line-up of the top stars from contemporary pop music at a festival designed for everyone in Sheffield and beyond. We all want to enjoy and embrace the Olympics and what better way to anticipate a Gold Medal win for our very own Jessica Ennis than to watch her on the big screens at Don Valley and then celebrate by dancing the night away to the crème de la crème of pop!”

Stretching a vast site of 25 acres, Sheftival boasts eight stages, over 1,000 performers, and 25 sports to have-a-go in. Three markets, a huge fairground, a variety of food stalls, twelve bars, a giant bungee and a lot more. It’s the only place in Yorkshire this summer where you can immerse yourself in Olympics celebrations by watching the Games on a giant screen in Don Valley, and then head onto Don Valley Bowl for live music in pop, indie, reggae, ska, electronic dance, 2-tone, and everything else in between.

A ticket to Sheftival will grant you free ice-skating in iceSheffield, a demonstration by the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team and the biggest foam party in the country. From as little as £10 a ticket, it’s an exceedingly good deal!

With a crazy mixture of music, sport, civic pride, food, drink and entertainment, Sheftival is a great excuse for a party. This is the Olympic Games done festival style.
